Our History

Westfield Secondary School was established in 2016 to meet a rising demand for an education that develops clarity, ambition, and global perspective in an era of uncertainty. From the outset, we strove to set ourselves apart, offering a curriculum designed to challenge, a culture that encourages aspiration, and a community that attracts families who value excellence.

In less than a decade, we’ve evolved into one of the fastest-growing schools in the region, drawing high-performing students, nurturing university-bound scholars, and shaping graduates who stand out in competitive environments. Since 2016, Westfield Secondary School has evolved with purpose: expanding programs, embracing innovation, and building a future-focused learning community for high-achieving students of all backgrounds.

2016

Westfield Secondary School is established in North York by Frank J. Marchini and a forward-looking group of educational investors. Born out of dissatisfaction with contemporary academic models, Westfield launches with a bold mandate: to create a school that blends intellectual rigor with modern relevance.

2018

Westfield doubles in enrollment, refining its curriculum around academic mastery, personalized learning, and an ethos of adaptability. Our Academic Advisory Council is established, drawing influence from both local educators and global thinkers.

2020

As COVID-19 redefines education across the globe, Westfield responds not with disruption, but with innovation. Within weeks, the school launches a robust, structured online learning model, maintaining full academic continuity, while adding new systems for digital accountability and student support.

2022

Westfield's growing community of engaged students, experienced faculty, and supportive families positions it as a boutique  environment in the Toronto educational landscape. We continue to develop a strategic focus on small-group teaching, outcome-driven instruction, and a values-based culture of confidence and adaptability.

At Westfield, we believe that schools must evolve to meet the world our children are actually growing into, not the one we grew up in. As a rapidly emerging independent school in the Greater Toronto Area, we were founded not to replicate tradition, but to reimagine it.  Our mission was born from a simple question: What if we started fresh? What if we built a school that wasn’t weighed down by outdated systems, but instead designed every element- curriculum, culture, community- from first principles, with today’s world in mind?  At Westfield, we believe that meaningful education must be responsive, personalized, and purpose-driven. Our programs are designed to prepare students for a rapidly changing future, one that demands critical thinking, emotional intelligence, global fluency, and digital literacy in equal measure.  We value academic excellence, but we also know that students flourish when they feel seen, challenged, and supported. Our school is intentionally small, our faculty highly engaged, and our culture one of deep belonging. This allows us to adapt to each student’s needs while cultivating the independence and confidence they’ll need to lead in tomorrow’s world.  Westfield is proud to be at the forefront of a new generation of schools: nimble, forward-thinking, and unafraid to do things differently. We know the stakes are high.
